A Night with Dan-E

I was so excited to find out that I had won the Jimmy G's contest and that I would be having dinner with Dan-E on the Gateway Clipper. I was allowed to bring a friend, so I asked my mom to go.

Once the night was finally here, I was so nervous.   We all met at Peggy's house where a limo picked us up.   We were all in the limo talking and taking pictures that the ride to Station Square seemed so short.   Even though I would have preferred to hear Dan-E singing, the band was pretty good.    It was a chilly evening, but we still all went outside on the top of the boat until we couldn't take the wind anymore.   Once back inside, Dan-E asked me to dance.   I had such a great time. The evening seemed to fly by.   It was such a fun evening and I really enjoyed myself - I think we all did. Thanks Dan-E.

Hey, Denise Bauerle -- the jig is up!!! He knows now!!!
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
One day after CCD choir was over I asked Dan if I could take some pictures of him to put in the scrapbook I was making. He agreed because that would give him a chance to be cute and show off with his sparkling personality. He grabbed a fake flower from a nearby table and put it in his mouth. The next thing I knew he climbed on top of the Choir room piano and stretched out and said "how's this?"

I was so excited about taking his picture that I didn't bother to check the camera to make sure there was film inside. Just my luck, there was no film in the camera. I was too embarrased to tell Dan that he posed for nothing. Lucky for me he forgot about the pictures and never asked me how they turned out.

"I finally made it to the top" says Kim Kittle about her experience at the Bloomfield parade.....

When Dan-E asked me if I wanted to ride with him on the float in the parade, he didn't have to ask a second time. It was the first time I ever got to do that!!! It was really neat. I was having such fun, I forgot to throw out the Dan-E candy we brought for the kids who came to the parade. The music was so loud I couldn't hear when my friends were yelling at me to throw them the candy bag. They finally got my attention and I threw them the candy. The fans were happy with the entertainment; the kids were happy with the Dan-E candy but I was the happiest of all because I got my opporunity to ride on a parade float.

Here's a Dan-E performance that Donna and Paul Schlosser and guests will never forget!

In the winter of 2001, Dan-E was appearing at the Orpheus Club located in Lawrenceville. The snow started falling late afternoon that Saturday and steadily continued. Show time was eminent and no one knew if the show would be cancelled. Of course, a cancellation was unacceptable by all, so all of the women (six total) piled into our Ford Escort wagon which seats five, and my husband, Paul, was driving. Since there were seven of us and the seats were filled, my sister and I crawled into the trunk area of the vehicle and rode to the Club like cargo. Our heads were hitting the roof and as we exited the vehicle, we certainly could feel our age. The roads were treacherous and all six women were giving Paul directions on how to drive in the weather (like he never drove a car) and hoping we would not get stopped for riding without a seatbelt, let alone for having too many occupants in the vehicle. We laughed so hard and it was a fun evening going to and leaving the show.

WE LET NOTHING STAND IN THE WAY OF DAN-Es SHOWS and we would never let the weather stop our good time.

It was a memorable evening...neither rain, nor snow, or sleet of night shall stop the SHOW from going on.

GRADUATION PARTY MEMORY OF KIM KITTLE
*******************************************************
I really wanted my high school graduation party to be special--and it was one of the most special nights of my life.

I graduated from Shaler High School and decided to have my party at Jimmy G's restaurant on the same night that Dan-E premiered his show. We treated a group of friends and family to dinner and then the show. It was a fun-filled evening and just hen I thought it couldn't get any better, Dan-E came to my table and escorted me to the stage. He gave me a long stem pink rose and sang "You are so Beautiful to Me" (which is one of my favorite songs). I was so happy that he wanted to make my graduation party night memorable. Believe me, he did. My friends and family were touched and it is certainly a memory I will cherish. My uncle taped the show so I can relive my special moment over and over. Soon, Dan-E will be performing his Christmas show at Jimmy G's and I wouldn't miss it for the world. It will be great!

At the June 23rd performance, Erica Watkins, age 11, recalls:

I was singing with Dan-E at Jimmy G's. I was singing my little heart out and all of the sudden a ring hit me in the head. I thought someone did not like the way I was singing. At the end of my song Dan-E announced that if someone finds a ring it was his. When I went back stage I had a headache and someone said--look at your head, you have a HUGE bump on it. I went back stage and my friend said she saw Dan-E's ring hit me in the head and she caught it after it hit me. At the end of the show I gave Dan-E his ring and told him what happened. He was sooooo HAPPY that he had his ring back but he was sad that it hit me in the head. I had a bump on my head for 2 weeks but I got over it. All I have to say is Thank you very much Dan-E!!

BEAVER FESTIVAL OF TREES

The Beaver Festival of Trees was Dan's last performance of the weekend.  After performing in the Butler Christmas parade on Friday morning, a guest on the float of the "World of Children", he performed in the Celebrate the Season parade in downtown Pittsburgh on Saturday morning.  Then, on Sunday evening he went on at 5PM at the Festival of Trees at Brady's Run Park in Beaver County.  All proceeds benefited the Beaver County Children and Youth Services.

Dan appreciates the opportunity afforded him by the organizers of the Beaver Festival of Trees to perform in Beaver County.  This fundraiser is a wonderfully-organized event and he was happy to be part of the festivities.

The Christmas Tree benefit auction is set for Friday, December 13th at Brady's Run Lodge, in Brady's Run Park.  Doors open at 5:30; raffles will be drawn at 6:30; bidding on the trees will begin at 7:00PM.  Why not make it a point to come down for the fun......

CELEBRATE THE SEASON PARADE

Another cold, crowded day in downtown Pittsburgh; the city brimming with holiday decorations and holiday cheer.  Absolutely the biggest parade ever in Pittsburgh, it was such a fun time.  The entertainment was wonderful and it was a great way to kick off the Christmas season in the Burgh....Dan was definitely dancin, singin till his dreams come true....

BUTLER CHRISTMAS PARADE

Dan was very pleased to accept an invitation from the "Children of the World" to join them on their Christmas float in Butler.  The group of children, ages 4-17, are routinely sought out to entertain.  Among their many appearances, they have performed for President Clinton; Marie Osmond; the Baltimore Orioles baseball team; and even the Pope.  Dressed in their international costumes, they perform sign language.

With Dan singing such holiday favorites as "Home for the Holidays; Felice Navidad; Jingle Bell Rock and I Wish you a Merry Christmas" the "Children of the World" demonstrated their signing talent.     They sure appear to be a match made in Heaven.

Look for Dan and the "Children of the World" on Saturday, December 14th at 12:00 Noon at PPG Place - Wintergarten Santa Display as they perform Christmas favorites.  Listen for Dan singing; and carefully watch as the kids accompany him with sign language.    MAKE IT A POINT TO COME DOWN TO PGH AND ENJOY THE HOLIDAY ATMOSPHERE....

LIGHT UP NIGHT

I was anxiously looking forward to going to Light Up Night on November 22nd.  I had never been to one before.  Then came the cold weather - the rain -- and more rain, snow flurries and cold wind.  Not exactly what we were hoping for.  In spite of the lousy weather people were full of Christmas cheer and seasons greetings....

On November 19th at the 2002 Mercer County gourmet dinner and auction, Dan did a great job.   The annual fundraiser to benefit the March of Dimes was a huge success--thanks to the generosity of the local merchants; restaurants and DanE who donated their talent and time for such a worthwhile cause.

SEE SOMEONE FAMILIAR ON ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT ON THURSDAY NIGHT?

Entertainment Tonight broadcast part of the performance of Kelly (the American idol) & Dan-E as they performed God Bless America from in front of the Lincoln Memorial.

Performance in Washington, D.C.
As soon as the karaoke finals were over, Dan-E had to leave Pittsburgh for Washington D.C. to appear in a 9-11 tribute in front of the Lincoln Memorial.  Shortly after karaoke he hopped on a bus and travelled to DC.    If you watched the national coverage of the events in and around Washington, Shanksville and NY, you know that it was very crowded and busy.  The show actually took place later than expected.  It was in the late afternoon.  Although I don't think it was picked up on the major networks, it was still a big success.  All the singers, including the North Star kids, did a fine job and were appreciated by the crowd.  The new American idol, Kelly, was also in the show.  Dan-E joined Kelly in singing God Bless America!  It was such an exciting day for everyone performing in and traveling with the show.  I'm sure everyone was exhausted but satisfied to know that they added in some small way to the tribute to those who lost their lives just one year ago

STARQUEST KARAOKE FINALS
"This is the first thing I've ever won" was Dan-E's reaction after being selected as the winner of the Starquest Karaoke challenge on Tuesday night at Nick's Fat City in the South Side of Pittsburgh.  The competition was tough but it was definitely worth it.  The first prize winner came away with a cruise for two on a Windjammer cruise; recording time at a local recording studio; a photo session and many additional gifts too numerous to list.  It was definitely a lot of fun and well worth the effort.  So, if we have any fans who fancy themselves a karaoke star, Starquest is gearing up for next season.  Why not give it a try.  You have nothing to lose and just think what you could win.

A GREAT REUNION AT JIMMY G'S:

Despite busy schedules and vacation plans during the summer months,  Dan-E's most dedicated fans came to Jimmy G's on Friday night, July 26th to again enjoy his songs and join in the dance fun.  Several times during the evening there was hardly anyone in their seats but on the dance floor joining in the fun.   Dan-E's new CD was available as were photographs from his most recent photo shoot.   Everyone had a good time and we thank Jimmy for his hospitality!    We hope to do it again!
